The system looks for the configuration file on the file server. If a configuration file is not found, the
download fails. If the

Reload with a DHCP Server Offer without a DNS Server
Although the DNS server is optional, it allows you to specify the configuration file to be applied to a
switch by assigning a hostname.
When the DHCP offer is received and no DNS IP address is specified, if the configuration file cannot be
retrieved from a file server the configuration file will not be downloaded.
Reload with a Pre-configuration Script (BMP mode only)
1. To reload FTOS on a switch using a pre-configuration script, the following conditions must be true:
• BMP must be enabled.
• The download of the script is from an external server . The location will be specified in the DHCP offer.
• The first line of the script must contain one of the following:
#!/usr/bin/expect
#!/usr/bin/tclsh
#!/usr/bin/zsh
2. After the first line, but before the actual start of the script, the script must contain the signature "#/
DELL-FORCE10".
