About this task
Attention:
• Read "Installation Guidelines" on page 45

• Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See

• If the server is installed in a rack, slide the server out on its rack slide rails to gain access to the top cover,
or remove the server from the rack. See
• If you intend to install memory modules in the server, you must first remove the air baffle from the server.

Step 1. Remove the top cover. See
Step 2. If the M.2 backplane is installed on the air baffle, disconnect the M.2 backplane cables from the
system board assembly.
a. Press and hold the latches on the M.2 cables.
