Procedure
Step 1.
Position the backplate on the drive cage so that the tabs on the drive cage are inserted into the
corresponding holes in the backplate.
Step 2.
Slide the backplate as shown until it is seated into position in the drive cage.

Step 3.
Connect the power cable and the signal cable to the system board. See "3.5-inch simple-swap
drive backplate cable routing" in the ThinkSystem ST650 V2 Backplane/Backplate Cable Routing
Guide.
After you finish
1. Reinstall all the simple-swap drives and drive bay fillers (if any) into the drive cage. See "Install a simple-
swap drive" on page 81.
2. Reinstall the fan cage. See "Install the fan cage assembly" on page 97.
3. Reinstall all the fans. See "Install a hot-swap fan" on page 94.
4. Reinstall all the full-length GPU adapters. See "Install a full-length GPU adapter" on page 114.
5. Reinstall the air baffle. See "Install the air baffle" on page 74.
6. Reinstall all the flash power modules. See "Install a flash power module" on page 100.
7. Reinstall the server cover. See "Install the server cover" on page 190.
8. Complete the parts replacement. See "Complete the parts replacement" on page 206.
