About this task
You can move from User EXEC mode to Privileged EXEC mode by using the enable command at the
command prompt.
If you are currently in Privileged EXEC mode, you can move into Global Configuration mode using the
configure terminal command.
You must use the Global Configuration mode to move to another configuration mode. For example, you
cannot go directly from Privileged EXEC mode to Interface Configuration mode.
You enter the Interface Configuration mode by entering one of the following at the Global Configuration
command prompt:
• interface fastethernet <port number> to configure a port
• interface vlan <vlan number> to configure a VLAN
You enter one the following commands to access Router Configuration command modes from the Global
Configuration command prompt:
• router rip
• router ospf
• router vrrp

User Executive mode

About this task
User Executive mode is the default command mode for ACLI and does not require an entrance
command.
The command prompt is: ERS5000>.
Procedure
To exit ACLI, from User EXEC mode, type the exit or logout command.
