IST failure
If two ERS 5600 Series switches run IST between them and that IST link goes down, a total
loss of communication occurs. Because all critical network traffic runs on the IST link, if an IST
failure occurs then network protocols, for example RIP,VRRP,OSPF,VLACP, start flapping.
This protocol flapping causes a network outage.
