Troubleshooting layer 2 and layer 3
Procedure
At the ACLI VLAN interface command prompt do the following:
Configuring passwords to match
Before you begin
• Open the ACLI VLAN Interface Configuration mode (at the ACLI command prompt enter
enable, enter configure terminal, enter int vlan <number>).
About this task
Use the following procedure to ensure that passwords match on both endpoints.
Procedure
At the ACLI VLAN Interface Configuration command prompt, enter the following
commands:

Configure hello and dead interval values for OSPF endpoints

You must configure interfaces to use the same hello time and dead intervals on both OSPF
endpoints.
The default values are:
• hello interval 10 seconds
• dead interval 40 seconds

Troubleshooting
• To set the key, enter the ip ospf message-digest-key <MD5 Key ID>
md5 <password> command.
• To set the authentication type, enter the ip ospf authentication-type
message-digest command.
• To set the authentication type to simple, enter the ip ospf authentication-
type simple command.
• To set the authentication key password, enter the ip ospf authentication-
key <password> command.
