CODE 61 – "AIR BAG" WARNING LAMP FLASHES
: Air bag harness
1. From main fuse
2. Ignition switch
3. "IG" fuse in J/B
4. "AIR BAG" fuse in J/B
CAUTION:
D When measurements are requested in this table use specified digital multi meter with correct ter-
minal adapter from special tool (Connector test adapter kit).
D When a check for proper connection is requested refer to "INTERMITTENT AND POOR CONNEC-
TION" in Section 0A.
D When an open in air bag wire harness, damaged wire harness, connector or terminal is found, re-
place wire harness, connectors and terminals as an assembly.
DTC WILL SET WHEN
The voltage at the "AIR BAG" warning lamp circuit terminal "A5" does not match the commanded state of the warn-
ing lamp driver for specified time.
TABLE TEST DESCRIPTION
STEP 1: This test rechecks whether an abnormality is in SDM or in "AIR BAG" warning lamp circuit.
NOTE:
Before executing items in this table, be sure to perform "AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK FLOW
TABLE".

1 1) Malfunctions within "AIR BAG" warning lamp circuit will set
this diagnostic trouble code.
These malfunctions are addressed in the "AIR BAG DIAG-
NOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK FLOW TABLE" via Table A
and Table C Failure to properly perform the "AIR BAG
DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK FLOW TABLE" may re-
sult in misdiagnosis.
2) Ignition switch ON.
3) Clear diagnostic trouble codes.
Is DTC 61 set?
NOTE:
Upon completion of inspection and repair work, perform the following procedure.
1) Reconnect all air bag system components, ensure all components are properly mounted.
2) Repeat "AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK FLOW TABLE" to confirm that the trouble has been
corrected.
