Link and Connection Types Applicable to AUSM Cards
Description
Lines establish physical layer connectivity between a AUSM port and
the same port type (T1, for example) on another device.
Ports establish ATM communications over a line to ATM customer
premises equipment (CPE).
Soft permanent virtual circuits (SPVCs) are permanent connections
that can be rerouted in the event of a link failure. An AUSM-to-AUSM
SPVC establishes a connection between two AUSM ports. Such ports
can be on the same card, on different cards in the same switch, or on
different cards in different switches.
AUSM port and a port on a non-AUSM card such as a FRSM, RPM,
or AXSM card. Such ports can be on different cards in the same switch
or on different cards in different switches.
