Installing the cylinder head

1. Install a new gasket and the cylinder
head, and then tighten the bolts to the
specified torques
shown.

CAUTION:
Do not reuse the cylinder head gasket,
always replace it with a new one.
NOTE:
• Apply engine oil to the cylinder head bolts
before installation.
• Tighten the bolts to the specified torques in
3 stages.
• Make a mark a on cylinder head bolts (M9)
and the cylinder head, and then tighten the
bolts 60° from the mark.
Cylinder head bolt 1–6 (M9):
1st: 15 N·m (1.5 kgf·m, 11.1 ft·lb)
2nd: 29 N·m (2.9 kgf·m, 21.4 ft·lb)
3rd: 60°
Cylinder head bolt 7–9 (M6):
1st: 6 N·m (0.6 kgf·m, 4.4 ft·lb)
2nd: 12 N·m (1.2 kgf·m, 8.9 ft·lb)

Checking the oil pump

1. Remove the oil pump screws 1 and dis-
assemble the oil pump.

2. Check the inner surface of the oil pump
case. Replace the oil pump assembly if
scratched.
3. Measure the oil pump rotor clearances
as shown. Replace the oil pump assem-
bly if out of specification.
