5. Hold the driven sprocket using the spe-
cial service tool 4, and then remove the
driven sprocket bolt 3.

NOTE:
Make sure that the driven sprocket does not
turn when loosening the driven sprocket bolt.

6. Remove the driven sprocket and Woo-
druff key.
7. Install the power unit onto the special
service tool 5 as shown, and then
remove the drive sprocket nut 6.

NOTE:
• Use a deep 41 mm socket 7 to loosen the
drive sprocket nut 6.
• Make sure that the power unit does not turn
when loosening the drive sprocket nut 6.

8. Remove
the
sprocket, and Woodruff key.
Checking the timing belt and
sprocket
1. Check the interior and exterior of the tim-
ing belt. Replace if cracked, damaged, or
worn.
2. Check the drive sprocket and driven
sprocket. Replace if cracked, damaged,
or worn.
Installing the sprocket and timing
belt
CAUTION:
Unless directed to do so in the following
instructions,
do
sprocket or driven sprocket when the tim-
ing belt is not installed. Otherwise the pis-
tons and valves will collide with each
other and be damaged.
1. Check that the keyway a in the crank-
shaft and the mating surface b of the
crankcase
and
aligned.
2. Install the Woodruff key 1, drive
sprocket 2, and retaining plate 3, and
then install the drive sprocket nut 4 tem-
porarily.
