4.10.4 Viewing and Configuring Port Instance Details

Use the
Port Instance
Admin Internal Path Cost.
To view and configure the MSTP bridge instance:
1. Select
Network
Select the checkbox to use the port as an operational edge port.
Select this checkbox to support guard root for this port index. Guard root ensures
the port is a designated port. Typically, each guard root port is a designated port,
unless two or more ports (within the root bridge) are connected together. If the
bridge receives superior (BPDUs) on a guard root-enabled port, the guard root
moves the port to a root-inconsistent STP state. This state is equivalent to a
listening state. No data is forwarded across the port. Thus, the guard root enforces
the root bridge position.
Enable this option to change the status of the Port Fast BPDU Filter.
Select a value to reconfigure the port version.
Define the path cost for the specified port index. The cost is 1,000 Mbps (1 gigabit
per second) divided by the bandwidth of the segment connected to the port.
Therefore, a 10 Mbps connection would have a cost of (1,000/10) 100.
Define the point-to-point status as ForceTrue or ForceFalse. ForceTrue indicates this
port should be treated as connected to a point-to-point link. ForceFalse indicates
this port should be treated as having a shared connection.
Select this checkbox to use this port for the forwarding of MST supported packets
on the switch.
If enabled, protocol migration enables the switch (when running MST) to
interoperate with legacy 802.1d switches. If the listed index receives a legacy
802.1D configuration BPDU, it only sends 802.1D BPDUs over its port.
Select the checkbox to define this port index as an admin edge port.
