Adjusting the Field Diaphragm

The field diaphragm is used to restrict illumination to the area of
the sample being viewed.
Operate the DIA field diaphragm button to change the size of the
field diaphragm.
Press the left side (
mark side) of the DIA field diaphragm
button to open, and the right side (
diaphragm.
You can adjust the size of the field diaphragm within the range of
diameter 1.5 mm up to 30.6 mm in Ni-E.
For normal observations, the size of the field diaphragm should
almost circumscribe the field diaphragm.
Operation on DS-L3 (See "23.2 Controlling the Microscope".)
Proper size of the field diaphragm
Usually, the size is optimal when it circumscribes the field of view. Opening the field diaphragm too much and
illuminating a broader area than necessary will result in stray light entering the field of view, generating flare and
reducing the image contrast. In addition, the specimen will become decolorized over a wider area.
Field diaphragm's adjustment timing
Be sure to adjust the aperture diaphragm each time you change the objective.
Interlocked operation of the field diaphragm
The adjustment of the size of the field diaphragm can be interlocked with switching of objectives, working with a zoom
operation, or switching the optical path. See "19.2 Interlocking Function" for conditions for interlocking and interlocked
operations.
