Viewing the Specimen
18
View the specimen.
To observe another part of the sample, rotate the stage
knobs to find the position to observe. If the sample is not
in focus, rotate the focus knobs to adjust the focus.
To observe under a different magnification, repeat steps
13 and later with another objective.
To switch from dark-field to bright-field microscopy, operate
the motorized universal condenser to bring the [OPEN]
position into the optical path.
Glare when switching microscopy method
When switching from dark-field to bright-field
microscopy, there may be glare in the field of view. To
avoid this, close your eyes or look away from the
eyepiece during the switchover.
Low magnification microscopy
If you are using a universal condenser during
bright-field microscopy with a 2x or 4x objective,
attach the "2-4x auxiliary lens" to the turret and move
it into the optical path. When doing so, fully open the
aperture and field diaphragms for the maximum
range of illumination.
NI-FA FL/DIC Analyzer Slider/Dummy
Slider
When the epi-fluorescence cube turret is attached to
the microscope, the optical element for the
epi-fluorescence microscopy installed in the
epi-fluorescence cube turret is not used in the
bright-field microscopy. Be sure to bring Address 1
(empty) on the turret into the optical path.
When the FL/DIC analyzer slider is inserted in the
epi-fluorescence cube turret, pull it out to the first
click position to remove the analyzer from the optical
path. When a dummy slider instead of the analyzer
slider is inserted, do not fully insert it. Pull it out one
step. If it is fully inserted, the periphery of field of view
may be dark.
