Disassembly
1. Compress the damper spring with the spring com-
p r e s s o r a c c o r d i n g t o t h e m a n u f a c t u r e r ' s i n s t r u c -
tions, then remove the self-locking nut.
GAUTION: Do not compress the spring more than
necessary to remove the sell-locking nut.
STNUT SPRING COMPRESSOR:
lComm6rcially .vailablel
ERANICKo T/N MST-580A, T/N 7200, or equivalent
Release the pressure from the spring compressor.
then disassemble the damper as shown on page 18-

lnspection
1.
Reassemble all parts, except the sprlng.
2.
Push on the damPer as shown.
WOODEN BLOCK
Check for smooth operation through a full stroke,
both compression and extension.
N O T E : T h e d a m p e r s h o u l d m o v e s m o o t h l y l f i t
does not (no compression or no extension), the gas
is leaking, and the damper should be replaced.
Check Jor oil leaks, abnormal noises, and binding
during these tests.
