transport trailer. Refer to the procedure for retracting the side frames included into this Chapter.
Remove the bucket or the attachment from the arm top. Always refer to the Operator's Manual of the attachment for
properly and safely prepare the attachment for being handled and, if necessary, transported.
Basing on the specific procedures described into the Service Manual, disassemble the CX490D/CX500D into the
following main modules:
• Base machine including boom and arm cylinder.
• Arm, including the bucket cylinder and the bucket linkage.
• Counterweight.
The counterweight can be lowered to the ground automatically if the machine is equipped with the dedicated removal
system. Refer to page 9-49.
The arm and the counterweight should be handled with cranes and lifters.
NOTICE: As general prescription, make sure handle the main modules using wire ropes, slings, shackles, and other
lifting devices of proper capacity in order to tackle the weight of each module. It is recommended to consider 120%

The base machine is self-moving, and can thus go on and off a transport trailer. Refer to the procedures for loading,
tie-down, and unloading of the base machine that are included into this Chapter.
The base machine should be further prepared before being loaded on the trailer by removing the following parts:
• FOPS guard (if equipped).
• Vandalism guard (if equipped).
• Catwalks (if equipped).
NOTICE: All the parts above shall be readily reinstalled on the base machine as the transport operation has been
completed. Strictly follow the installation procedures described into the Service Manual.
Refer to the following tables for the weights and the overall dimensions of the main modules.
NOTE: The weights and the dimensions are referred to the most complete configuration of each main module.
