5 - TRANSPORT OPERATIONS
Introduction
The CX490D/CX500D is a machine mainly intended for productive operation in open jobsites or quarries, and it is
thus bigger than other crawler excavators used in general construction works.
The CX490D/CX500D should never be transported or handled as a complete machine, and should thus be disassem-
bled into specific main modules. Therefore, any transport or handling of the CX490D/CX500D should be prepared
and executed only by a specialized hauling Service to be agreed with the CASE CONSTRUCTION Dealer.
Make sure to define with the specialized hauling Service the general transport conditions, as the road map, the weight
and size limits according to the local traffic regulations, the type and the number of trailers/trucks to be used. Make
sure to get the necessary documents and permissions to comply to the local traffic regulations.
Make sure to agree with the specialized hauling Service about personnel, facilities, and tools that are necessary to
properly and safely execute the disassembly and assembly of the machine.
NOTE: As general reference, the work place should be at least a 15 m (16.4 yd) x 25 m (27.3 yd) area on a hard and
level ground, having wide open road accesses for trucks, cranes, and other service vehicles.
NOTE: As general reference, the equipment to be made ready for disassembly and assembly of the machine are one
20 t Rough Terrain Crane, one 6 t truck crane, one hydraulic lifter.
