Configuration and management

Log into the Connect IT from the Console port

You can use this console port to connect the Connect IT to your computer and then log in to the
Connect IT. This is useful if a network isn't available. When using this method, only CLI commands are
available.
1. Connect one end of a serial cable to the console port on the Connect IT.
2. Connect the other end of the serial cable to the serial port on your computer. If you don't have
a serial port, you can use a console adapter accessory with a straight through RJ45 cable to
connect a serial port on a computer to the console port of the Connect IT. For more

3. Access a terminal screen on your computer.
4. When prompted, enter your user name and password.
5. Use the CLI commands to configure the Connect IT.

Access the command line interface

You can access the Connect IT 16/48 command line interface using an SSH connection, a telnet
connection, or a serial connection. You can use an open-source terminal software, such as PuTTY or
TeraTerm, to access the device through one of these mechanisms.
You can also access the command line interface in the WebUI by using the Terminal, or the Digi
Remote Manager by using the Console.
To access the command line, your device must be configured to allow access, and you must log in as a
user who has been configured for the appropriate access. For further information about configuring
