Power supply and supplemental fan module considerations

When you install or remove a power supply or the supplemental fan, be aware of the following
requirements:
Main power must be removed from both power supplies before installation or removal of either
n
power supply or the supplemental fan.
Do not force a fan module or power supply into its slot. This may cause damage to the
n
connector if it is not properly aligned.
A fan or power supply that is not fully connected can cause the system to not operate properly.
n
Do not operate the device with one power supply module empty. Proper device cooling
n
requires both modules and the supplemental fan to be present.
The device will continue to operate if one of the power supplies and/or the supplemental fan
n
are in a failed state unless the internal temperature exceeds a safe limit. If this occurs the
device will write a failure message to the internal flash log file and then shut down.
Make sure that both power supplies and the supplemental fan module are properly seated and
n
the thumb screws tightened before applying power to the unit.
