Chapter 2 Basic Operation

Setting a Media

This machine can be used with a roll media and leaf
media.
For usable media, refer to (
media" ).
• Take care not to drop the media on your foot when
setting the media. It may cause an injury due to
the media.
• When setting a roll media, work by two or more
people. Otherwise, you may hurt your back by the
weight of the roll media.
• Adjust the head height prior to setting the media. If
the head height is adjusted after the media is set,
this may cause a media jamming, deterioration of
the print quality or head damage.
• Depending on the type of media, it may be
necessary to change the platen. (Tx300P-1800
MkII)
• With this machine, you can set media on the right
side or in the center. When setting media, be sure
to set it so that it covers one of the two media
sensors on the back of this machine.
• If setting the media in the center, use the take-up
extension cable.
• The head height is adjustable according to the
purpose of use.

Setting up the roll media (cloth media)

Placing roll (cloth) media into the printer may sometimes
require use of the tension bar.
The media is detected once in position.（
• Use the cloth media platen.
• When placing the media in the center, use the
take-up extension cable.
• Adjust the head height to suit the intended use.
Using the tension bar
This section describes how to set up the media using the
tension bar for both feeding and takeup.
The route for setting the fabric media is as shown in the
following diagram.
Prior to setting the media, if you understand the routing of
the media, you can perform the setting of the media
smoothly.
• Check to confirm that "SELECT USE TENSION-
BAR" has been correctly set.
• Before setting fabric media, check that around the
grit roller is not stained. If it is stained, clean it.
• Before setting media by using tension bar, check
that direct-connection unit is attached to feeding/
take-up device. If torque limiter is attached,
replace it with direct-connection unit by referring to
P.2-9.

• In this case, select "FEEDING & TAKE".
(DL= direct-connection unit, TL= torque limiter
- - = unit OFF)
• Press [][] to select "FEEDING&TAKE" and
press the [ENTER] key.
