Switching between cloth media and paper
media (transfer paper) (Tx300P-1800 MkII only)
The Tx300P-1800 MkII is capable of printing on both cloth
media and paper media (transfer paper).
Switching between the different media requires changing
the platen and altering the print settings. The main unit
should be prepared and the settings altered as described
in this manual.
Be sure to adhere to the warnings and precautions
described.

Caution in handling of media

Pay attention to the followings for handling of media.
● Media
• When using a media other then the following, be
sure to perform test printing to confirm the plot result
and then determine whether it can be used or not.
• Do not leave pre-treated fabric media set. Medicant
of pre-treatment agent may promote rust of the grit
roller.
• Use media recommended by MIMAKI to ensure
reliable, high-quality printing.
• When setting the fabric used, be sure to adjust the
head height. Otherwise, the fabric and/or the head can
be damaged.
• If preventing treatment for fray on right and left edges
and tenter are thick against the fabric thickness, adjust
the head height and stainless plate height of the fabric
holder depending on the thickness of the right and left
edges of the fabric.
• If using fabric with thick right and left edges, as take-up
slippage may easily occur because right and left edges
of the roll rise at take-up. If take-up slippage occurred,
fabric tends to skew and it may cause troubles such as
contact with the head nozzle surface.
• Do not use a fabric with high expansion and
contraction due to ink adhesion or resilient fabric. If
such a fabric is used, it may cause the trouble of
contact with the nozzle surface or the misaligned
printing.
• When using a fabric with curling, be sure to remove the
curling before using. Strong curling may effect on the
quality of printing or may hit the head nozzle surface
and may cause discharging defect.
• Store fabric in a bag. Wiping off dust, waste paper and
flocks accumulated on a fabric will adversely affect the
fabric due to static electricity.
• When you use fabric media that will easily generate
static for printing, use the attached neutralization
fabric. In addition, raise the humidity of the usage
environment by using a humidifier etc.
● Transfer paper
• Use media recommended by MIMAKI to ensure
reliable, high-quality printing.
Use media recommended by MIMAKI to ensure
reliable, high-quality printing.
• Pay attention to the expansion and contraction of
the media.
Do not use media immediately after unpacking.
The media can be affected by the room temperature
and humidity, and thus it may expand and contract.
The media have to be left in the atmosphere in which
they are to be used for 30 minutes or more after
unpacked.
• Do not use curled media.
This may result in paper jamming. If a regular-sized
coated sheet of media is rolled and stored, the coated
side has to face outside.
• Be careful to dusts on the edge face of the media.
Some rolls have dusts contained in the package
gathered on the edge surface of the roll. If you use as it
is, the drawing quality may be degraded due to nozzle
missing or ink drops. Be sure to set
the roll after removing dusts adhering on the edge face
of the roll.
