Chapter 2 Basic Operation

Media removal

When replacing the media after printing has ended or
when replacing the media midway, remove the media as
follows:
• Take care to avoid dropping the media on your feet
when removing the roll media. The media is heavy
and may cause injuries.
• Assign at least two persons to remove the roll
media. The weight of the roll media may cause
back injuries.
• When setting the new media refer to(
"Setting a Media")

Removing the roll media

Remove the media after printing has ended as follows:

Cut off the media.

• Use scissors or similar implement to cut off the
media up to the printed part.
• When using paper media, take care to avoid
cutting your hands on the cut edge.
Use the take-up unit switch to take up the

printed media.
• For more information on how to use the take-up
unit, refer to P.2-9 "Feeding/ Take-up device"
• If the same media will continue to be used, reset
as follows:

• If reusing the remaining media when using cloth
media, cleanly cut off any loose threads from the
cut edge. Loose threads may become caught in
the rollers, preventing the media from being fed
correctly.
Roll media removal
Lift the clamp and take up the roll media on

the feed side.
Detach the feed side roll holder.

• When using paper media, the tension bar must be
moved.
