Preparing Cartridges

Setting a T9840 Write Protect Switch to Read-Only

You can set the T9840 write protect switch so that the cartridge is read-only (nothing can
be written on the tape). Slide the switch right to the write protect position
In this position, the drive can only read data from the tape and cannot write data.

Setting a T9840 Write Protect Switch to Read/Write

You can set the T9840 write protect switch so that the cartridge is write-enabled. Slide the
switch left to the write enable position
as well as read data. This setting is recommended when you enter cartridges into the
LSM.
Note: Some software has a feature called "virtual thumb wheel" that allows read-only
