The Product independently evaluates trip current on each half-wave
of the measured trip current.
Installation testers can be set for Standard or Sensitive RCDs. Standard RCDs
have a trip time range between 10 ms and 500 ms. Sensitive RCDs range
between 40 ms and 5 s. Although the Product cannot detect which of these two
settings the DUT is set, trip time and trip current can still be calibrated.

RCD Trip Time for PATs

The Product has a special mode to calibrate the RCD function in PAT testers,
under the Mode softkey. Some PAT models can test portable RCDs, which may
also be built-into power cords. The PAT tester senses residual current in these
RCDs. The Product works as a calibrated portable RCD with adjustable trip
current range 10 mA ac to 30 mA ac. It requires connection to the DUT using two
cable adapters. See Table 2 for the RCD PAT Adapter. See Figure 18. See
Figure 50 for an example of the connections from the DUT to the Product.
When testing PAT testers that do not allow each RCD test condition
to be selected individually (having only an RCD test Auto sequence).
Use the use of the Product's output terminals Automatic
reconnection. This avoids the need to quickly reset the Product to
OPERATE after each trip occurs.
