22) Installation of Cylinder Head

No.1 piston is to be at top dead center of
compression stroke.
1.
After installing cam shaft pulley, bring "
pulley 1 to " " mark b of cylinder head.
Check that " " mark c of belt guide and " " mark d of

cylinder block are aligned with each other.
3.
Install cylinder head with new gasket, and tighten bots in the
order shown in two steps to specified torque.
• Do not reuse cylinder head gasket. Be
sure to replace with new one.
• Do not turn timing pulley or cam shaft
pulley with timing belt removed. Doing so
can make pistons and valves interfere
with each other, resulting in damages to
these parts.
• First, tighten M8 bolts in two steps to specified
torque.
• Then, tighten M6 bolts in two steps to specified
torque.
• After installing cylinder head, install timing belt
and check valve clearance. For the procedure,
refer to relevant sections.
Cylinder Head Bolts (M8)
First Step : 10 N·m ( 7 lb·ft ) [ 1.0 kgf·m ]
Second Step : 30 N·m ( 22 lb·ft ) [ 3.0 kgf·m ]
Cylinder Head Bolts (M6)
First Step : 6 N·m ( 4 lb·ft ) [ 0.6 kgf·m ]
Second Step : 10N·m ( 7 lb·ft ) [ 1.0 kgf·m ]

Install cylinder head cover, apply "Three Bond" 1342 to bolts,
and tighten them to specified torque.
Cylinder Head Cover Bolts :
9 N·m ( 7 lb·ft ) [ 0.9kgf·m ]
