User   M odule   N ame:  
The   f ull   n ame   o f   a   m odule   t hat   m ay   r equest   P ort   S ecurity   s ervices.    
Abbr:  
A  one-­‐letter  abbreviation  of  the  user  module.  This  is  used  in  the  Users  column  in  the  port  status  
table.    
Port   S tatus:  
The   t able   h as   o ne   r ow   f or   e ach   p ort   o n   t he   s elected   s witch   a nd   a   n umber   o f   c olumns,   w hich   a re:    
Port:  
The   port   number   for   which   the   status   applies.   Click   the   port   number   to   see   the   status   for   this  
particular   p ort.    
 
Users:  
Each   o f   t he   u ser   m odules   h as   a   c olumn   t hat   s hows   w hether   t hat   m odule   h as   e nabled   P ort   S ecurity  
or  not.  A  '-­‐'  means  that  the  corresponding  user  module  is  not  enabled,  whereas  a  letter  indicates  
that   t he   u ser   m odule   a bbreviated   b y   t hat   l etter   ( see   A bbr)   h as   e nabled   p ort   s ecurity.    
State:  
Shows   t he   c urrent   s tate   o f   t he   p ort.   I t   c an   b e   o ne   o f   f our   v alues:  
Disabled:   N o   u ser   m odules   a re   c urrently   u sing   t he   P ort   S ecurity   s ervice.  
Ready:   T he   P ort   S ecurity   s ervice   i s   i n   u se   b y   a t   l east   o ne   u ser   m odule,   a nd   i s   a waiting   f rames   f rom  
unknown   M AC   a ddresses   t o   a rrive.  
Limit  Reached:  The  Port  Security  service  is  enabled  by  at  least  the  Limit  Control  user  module,  and  
that  module  has  indicated  that  the  limit  is  reached  and  no  more  MAC  addresses  should  be  taken  
in.  
Shutdown:   T he   P ort   S ecurity   s ervice   i s   e nabled   b y   a t   l east   t he   L imit   C ontrol   u ser   m odule,   a nd   t hat  
module   has   indicated   that   the   limit   is   exceeded.   No   MAC   addresses   can   be   learned   on   the   port  
until   i t   i s   a dministratively   r e-­‐opened   o n   t he   L imit   C ontrol   c onfiguration   W eb   p age.  
MAC   C ount   ( Current,   L imit):  
The  two  columns  indicate  the  number  of  currently  learned  MAC  addresses  (forwarding  as  well  as  
blocked)   and   the   maximum   number   of   MAC   addresses   that   can   be   learned   on   the   port,  
respectively.  
If   n o   u ser   m odules   a re   e nabled   o n   t he   p ort,   t he   C urrent   c olumn   w ill   s how   a   d ash   ( -­‐).  
If   t he   L imit   C ontrol   u ser   m odule   i s   n ot   e nabled   o n   t he   p ort,   t he   L imit   c olumn   w ill   s how   a   d ash   ( -­‐).    
Indicates  the  number  of  currently  learned  MAC  addresses  (forwarding  as  well  as  blocked)  on  the  
port.   I f   n o   u ser   m odules   a re   e nabled   o n   t he   p ort,   a   d ash   ( -­‐)   w ill   b e   s hown.
