
By default, dynamic entries are removed from the MAC table after 300 seconds. This is also called
aging.

MAC T able L earning
If the learning mode for a given port is grayed out, another module is in control of the mode, so it
cannot b e c hanged b y t he u ser. A n e xample o f s uch a m odule i s t he M AC-­‐Based A uthentication u nder
802.1X. E ach p ort c an l earn b ased u pon t he f ollowing s ettings:
Auto:

Learning i s a utomatic a s s oon a s a f rame w ith a n u nknown S MAC i s r eceived.
Disable:

No l earning i s d one.
Secure:

Only s tatic M AC e ntries a re l earned; a ll o ther f rames a re d ropped.

The static entries in the MAC table are shown in this table. The static MAC table can contain 64
entries. T he m aximum o f 6 4 e ntries i s f or t he w hole s tack, n ot p er s witch.

Adding a N ew S tatic E ntry:

Click to add a new entry to the static MAC table. Specify the VLAN ID, MAC address, and port
members f or t he n ew e ntry. C lick " Apply."

Reset-­‐ C lick t o u ndo a ny c hanges m ade l ocally a nd r evert t o p reviously s aved v alues.
N : Make sure you add the link used for managing the switch to the
OTE
Static Mac Table before changing to secure learning mode; otherwise, the
management link is lost and can only be restored by using another
non-­‐secure p ort o r b y c onnecting t o t he s witch v ia t he s erial i nterface.
