About templates

PA enables you to create and store chart templates for quick retrieval. Using the templates feature, you
can save various components and metrics that you frequently monitor as template charts, and monitor all
of it in a single page. This allows you to compare data of different component types. You can also create
and generate reports for the templates that you have created.
Whenever you want to view the performance graphs for the same set of components and metrics, load
the corresponding template chart in the Templates screen. Hence, you need not select the same
combination of components and metrics again to plot the performance metrics. The template charts
provide a template framework, where you can continuously append new components and metrics to the
existing list. By default, a template chart when selected displays the historical charts in the current
duration for the last 1 hour time interval. To filter data within a date and time range, see Using date and
time filters.
You can also enable real-time plotting for all the charts on a template, export the data in PDF and CSV
formats.
NOTE: To view the components and metrics that you want to frequently monitor in the Templates
screen, you must first add, and save the components and metrics as templates.

Reuse/Apply a template

You can create a chart template for metrics that you frequently monitor. PA also enables you to apply this
template on a different array of your choice instead of recreating a chart with the same set of metrics.
Prerequisites
An existing template which you want to recreate on a different array.
Procedure
1. From the HPE XP7 Performance Advisor main menu, navigate to Templates.
2. Select the desired template from the Templates filter.
All the templates which you create on component/features screens are displayed in the filter.
3. Click Apply this Template.
4. From the drop-down filter in the Apply Template page, select an array to apply the chosen template.
5. Click Apply.
A new template is created, and the array serial number is appended to the original template name. For
example, CL3-A_10035.
