About PA database

PA uses PostgreSQL as its database. When PA is installed, all the database related files are also
automatically installed on the management station. PA v6.4.1 PostgreSQL database co-exists with the
Oracle database of prior supported Performance Advisor releases. You can manage PA database in the
following ways:
Configure the database size manually, where you allocate the available disk space on your
management station to PA database. For more information, see Manually configure database size.
Purge data that belongs to an array, or data older than the specified date.
Purge data automatically, where PA will purge the oldest data in its database to accommodate new
data.
Archive data from PA database.
Import data into PA database.
Generate or schedule Export DB reports, and also view records for the Export DB files. For more
information, see About Export Database.
WARNING:
The PA database is a stand-alone database designed to run only with PA and not with any other
application. Therefore, only supported and documented PA utilities, tools, and integrated features
such as configuring, purging, archiving, and backing up and restoring data must be used to maintain
it. Standard PostgreSQL database management tools and facilities must not be used to manage or
monitor the database.
IMPORTANT:
You must log on to PA as an Administrator or a user with administrator privileges to configure,
purge, archive, or import the PA database. You must also have this privilege to view or delete
Export DB schedules.
After PA is installed, HPE recommends that you set the maximum database size based on your
available disk space.
