About Business Copy

Business Copy is local mirroring technology used to create and maintain a full copy of any volume in the
storage system. The business copy volumes comprise of individual physical LDEVs. Using this option
user can create one or more copies of a data volume within the same storage system. BC copies can be
used as backups, with secondary host applications, for data mining, and for testing while business
operations continue without stopping host application I/O to the production volume. A pair is created when
user select a volume to duplicate. This volume becomes the P-VOL volume (P-VOL), and then identify
another volume to contain the copy. This becomes the secondary volume (S-VOL). Associate the P-VOL
and S-VOLs and perform the initial copy.

Business copy screen details

To view the business copy volumes, select the Business Copy from the main menu. Select the array
from the Array filter, the master pane displays the list of PVOLs for that array. The SVOL and pair status is
displayed in BC Pair Status for the selected LDEV ID.
PA provides details on whether a particular LDEV is configured as one of the following for Business Copy:
• PVOL (primary volume)
• SVOL (secondary volume)
