Configure SMTP server settings

Prerequisites
To receive email notifications on the status of tomcat and database services, you must configure the
SMTP parameters:
Procedure
1. From the HPE XP7 Performance Advisor main menu, navigate to PA Settings, and in the Email
Settings pane, click Edit.
2. In SMTP Server Settings, provide the IP Address / Hostname of the SMTP server that will be used
for processing emails. The default SMTP server IP address is localhost.
3. In the SMTP Port, specify the related port number (accepts only numbers). The default port number is
25.
4. In the User Name/ Email Address, specify a common source email address to dispatch all the alarm
and report email notifications, and the performance data collection failure notifications. The default
source email address for dispatching these notifications is administrator@localhost.
5. If SMTP server is configured with authentication, select the Require Authentication check box. The
default email address is administrator@hpe.com. Enter the password in Password field which
appears after selecting the check box.
6. To validate the SMTP server settings, enter an email address in the Test Email Address and click
Test SMTP. If the SMTP data entered is valid, a test mail is sent to the specified email address, and
the following message is displayed at the bottom of the PA Settings screen:

7. Click Save.

Configure alarm email settings

Prerequisites
A valid source email address, and IP and port addresses of the SMTP servers are specified. PA uses
the specified SMTP server details to dispatch email notifications to the intended recipients.
Specify a community name (Public or Private) for the source SNMP server in the SNMP Community
Name field in the SNMP Settings section. By default, Public is used as the community name.
Procedure
1. From the HPE XP7 Performance Advisor main menu, navigate to PA Settings, hover over the Email
Settings, and then click Edit.
2. In the Alarm Email Settings, type a valid destination email address.
3. In the Email Subject, provide an appropriate subject text for the alarm email notifications. For
example, set the default subject line as XP7 Alarm, P9000 Alarm, and so on.
4. In the Good Info Alarm Title, provide an appropriate title text for the Good Information alarm
(recovery alarm) email notifications. The default title is Good Information Alarm.
