About Journals
For Continuous Access operations, journal volumes help you manage data consistency between multiple
P-VOLs and S-VOLs. A journal consists of two or more data volumes and journal volumes. You use
journals to create multiple pairs and to split, resynchronize, and release multiple pairs. Journals are used
in Continuous Access to guarantee data consistency across multiple pairs, and are required on the
primary and secondary systems. The status for a Journal is based on the Journal Status and the RPO
metric.
You can access Journals screen using the main menu, or drill down from the Overview and Continuos
Access levels of dashboard. If the RPO metric crosses the defined threshold value, the Journal and the
array on which it is configured is flagged as critical.
Use the Actions menu to monitor the associated Continuous Access and the LDEVs.
Use the Template feature for frequent monitoring of performance metrics, and foresee performance
issues in advance. Templates can provide an at-a-glance information on the behavior of critical
components and metrics. You can also monitor real-time data, plot trend values for all the charts, and plot
forecast lines for critical metrics to predict behavior within a specified time frame.
