CHOOSING THE RECEIVING MODES & HOW TO RECEIVE
FAX Mode

Rings once
The telephone rings once.
The machine automatically starts receiving the message.
Manual Receive Mode
The machine rings continuously until you answer the call. Pick up the
handset.
Either:
If you hear a voice on the other end, speak in reply.
If you hear a tone every few seconds, the other end is a fax terminal
(also, if you don't hear anything, the other end may be an older ma-
chine that doesn't send identification signals).
If the person at the other end wishes to send you a fax message,
remove any documents from the feeder, press the Start key and replace
the handset.
