3 Jumper Reference

For a 3 jumper reference, you use 3 test reference cords in each
fiber path when you set the reference, as shown in Figure C-3.
The test connections add only the fiber in link to each path. Loss
results for 3 jumper reference method therefore include only the
fiber in the link. Use this method to measure the loss of channels,
where the patch cords for equipment are already connected. Also
use it for tests on trunk cables that have MPO connectors at both
ends.
Appendix B shows the names of the standards that define the 3
jumper reference method.
Because the results omit both connections in the link, industry
standards do not recommend the 3 jumper reference method for
testing premises fiber, where patch cords are typically used at
both ends of the link and connector loss is a large portion of the
total loss.
When you use the CertiFiber Pro Wizard to verify
your test reference cords for the 3 jumper reference
method, you must set the reference twice. The first
time is for the test on the TRCs, and the second time
is for tests on the fiber links.
