The battery charge procedure should be performed before monitor repairs when
possible.
Note: This section uses Nellcor factory defaults. If your institution has custom
defaults, those values are displayed. Factory defaults can be restored (see
Reset Softkey on page 53).
To fully charge the battery:
1. Connect the monitor to an AC power source.
2. Verify the monitor is off and the AC Power/Battery Charging indicator is lit.
3. Charge the battery for at least eight hours with the monitor turned off or
twelve hours with the monitor turned on.
The power-up performance tests verify the following monitor functions:
• Power-On Self-Test (POST) on page 16
• Power-On Defaults and Alarm Range Limits on page 19
Power-On Self-Test (POST)
To perform the power-on self-test:
1. Connect the monitor to an AC power source.
2. Verify the monitor is off and the AC Power indicator is lit.
3. Do not connect any cables to the monitor.
