When an error message appears on the display unit.

After you have successfully powered on your system, refer to

If the power cord is connected to a power control device
such as a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), make sure
that the power control device is powered.
If the power cord is connected to the server, an initial diagno-
sis of the hardware starts. The POWER switch does not
work while in diagnosis. Wait for about 10 seconds, then
press the POWER switch.
Always allow POST to complete before powering down your
system (see the next subsection for POST).

Powering Off the Server System

When server system power is on, pressing the power on/off switch on the front panel of
the server turns the power off.
To turn the server system power off:
1. Shutdown the operating system (OS).
