Microsoft Windows 2000

This subsection provides information on installing Microsoft® Windows® 2000 in the
server. Read instruction in this section before proceeding the installation.
Setup, see Appendix D.

Installation Notice

This section explains precautions and matters you should be aware of before beginning
installation in order to install Windows 2000 correctly.

Supported OS on this model

The server supports the following edition:
Microsoft Windows 2000 Server / Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
(hereinafter, referred to as "Windows 2000")
On installing other OS, contact sales dealer or the maintenance service representative.

Installing Optional Mass Storage Driver

To install optional mass storage driver, see "Installing Optional Mass Storage Driver"
of "Configuration Diskette Creator" in Chapter 6 to create setup inf file.

BIOS Specification

Before installing Windows 2000, confirm if the BIOS specification of the hardware is
correct. On BIOS specification, there are some items to specify for the new functions
provided from Windows 2000 (Plug and Play, support for USB interface and so on).

NEC ESMPRO Agent

On Windows 2000 systems, the ESMPRO Agent needs the necras.sys driver. To install
the necras.sys, run the System update from NEC EXPRESSBUILDER CD-ROM.
Windows 2000
Express Setup can install Windows 2000 operating system. However, note the
following issue:

Note: If you install Windows 2000 without using Express
Before starting the installation, complete all the process of
adding the optional device and the setup of Express server
mainframe (BIOS and optional board specification)
to specify them.
