Remove bearing 3.

Heat propeller shaft housing by putting it in
the hot water of approximately 60 - 70˚C
(140 - 158˚F), and remove bearing 3.
Be careful not to burn.
Use a press to remove oil seal 4 and roller bearing 5 at the

Do not reuse removed bearing.

5. When removing only oil seal, use bladed screw driver to pry
apart.
17) Inspection of Propeller Shaft Housing
1. Clean the part by using a solvent and then check. Replace if
necessary.
2. Check reverse (C) gear for crack or abnormal wear of the
teeth and dog. Replace if necessary.
3. Check bearing for abnormality. Replace if necessary.
CAUTION
CAUTION
Heating of propeller shaft housing can also be
made by using a heat gun or heat lamp.
CAUTION
· Before removing, check bearing for play or
deflection. Replace if necessary.
· Direct attachment with side without O-ring to
roller bearing.

Driver Rod 7 :
P/N. 3AC-99702-0
Be careful not to scratch or damage to propeller
shaft housing when removing oil seal.
