Command Usage
This command allows you to disable a port due to abnormal behavior
(e.g., excessive collisions), and then reenable it after the problem has been
resolved. You may also want to disable a port for security reasons.
Example
The following example disables port 5.
Console(config)#interface ethernet 1/5
Console(config-if)#shutdown
Console(config-if)#

switchport broadcast packet-rate

Use this command to configure broadcast storm control. Use the no form to
disable broadcast storm control.
Syntax
switchport broadcast packet-rate rate
no switchport broadcast
rate - Threshold level as a rate; i.e., packets per second.
(Range: 500 - 262143)
Default Setting
• Enabled for all ports
• Packet-rate limit: 500 packets per second

Interface Configuration (Ethernet)
Command Usage
• When broadcast traffic exceeds the specified threshold, packets above
that threshold are dropped.
• This command can enable or disable broadcast storm control for the
selected interface. However, the specified threshold value applies to all
ports on the switch.
