Battery Cannot Charge Or Discharge To
Expected Power
If the battery is not charging or discharging at the
expected rate (or at all), it typically indicates that some
combination of system settings and battery temperature
or state-of-charge are limiting charge/discharge. See
Table E-1
Battery Settings in
1. Battery settings check: confirm the battery set
points are valid. Navigate to the Mod. Settings
menu for the PWRcell [Battery].
a. Verify that the charge current limit settings are
not reduced.
b. Verify that the reported battery SOC is not
equal to or above the MaxSocAbs (for
charging) or below the MinSocRsrv (for
discharging) set-points.
2. System check:
a. If trying to discharge to grid, make sure inverter
does not have Export Override turned 'ON.'
b. If trying to discharge to AC loads, confirm
enough load is on the system and that PV
Links are not generating full power to the
inverter.
c. If trying to charge in Self Supply Mode, confirm
PV Links are generating enough power to
cover more than the AC loads on the inverter.
3. Temperature check: confirm that the battery is
operating in the acceptable temperature range.
See Battery Module Data Sheets for specific
battery module installed. Operating outside the
specified battery temperature range will impede
charge or discharge of the battery.
Cell Imbalance
This message indicates a reported state of charge (SOC)
or voltage mismatch between battery cells/modules.
1. Verify that no module is in error state.
2. Verify module voltages match each other by
disconnecting each module and using a DMM to
measure the DC voltage at each module terminal.
a. If a module differs from the rest by more than
0.2V, perform the Vset procedure to equalize
the voltage on the different modules. See
to Equalize Battery Module Voltages
Appendix E
Battery.
b. If the modules match in voltage, place inverter
into Priority Backup system mode, fully charge
the battery modules, and allow them to sit fully
charged for over an hour to reset the internal
state of charge counter.
3. If the cell imbalance persists, contact Generac
PWRcell Technical Support 855-635-5186.

Device Confirmation

1. Battery status LED is solid or blinking green.
2. Battery device page appears on inverter ICM
screen.
3. Battery device page indicates state of either
'charging', 'discharging', or 'standby.'
4. Battery settings are configured properly for the
installation and desired performance.
Example: If customer wants to use more capacity
in Self Supply, lower MinSoCRsrv.
5. System mode is correctly configured for desired
performance.
6. Battery has been tested to charge or discharge.
7. System has been confirmed to properly island
(EnaIslanding = on).
