Internet

Connecting a PWRcell Inverter to the Internet via the
homeowner's router is required for monitoring and
warranty purposes. It is recommended to connect the
system prior to commissioning for the first time.

Basic Requirements

To connect a PWRcell Inverter to the Internet, the system
requires a hard-line connection from the homeowner's
router to the inverter. The Internet service should be
basic high-speed broadband with minimum data transfer
speeds of at least 5 Mbps upload/download.
NOTE: The homeowner will not be able to use the
PWRview™ Mobile Application
monitoring dashboard without an Internet connection to
each inverter on site. Similarly, the installer will have no
access to monitoring without a connection to each
inverter.
NOTE: The homeowner will not be able to access their
mobile application if the Internet connection is not routed
through the factory connection to the REbus Beacon.

Device Profiles

REbus Beacon
See Figure 3-1.The REbus Beacon is an important
device in a PWRcell system. It stores data from REbus
devices; it provides the system's scheduler feature for
Time of Use (TOU); it stores the Installer Configuration
Tool; and it communicates to Generac servers for system
monitoring with PWRview Mobile App as well as PWR-
fleet. Connecting Ethernet through the Beacon ensures
the connection will be encrypted.

Inverter Control Module (ICM)
See Figure 3-2. The Inverter Control Module (ICM)
houses the Inverter Control Panel and Liquid Crystal
Display (LCD). It has an additional Ethernet port (A) for
diagnostic use only. This connection is unencrypted and
will not allow for remote system monitoring.
