Internet Troubleshooting Flowchart

NOTE: Problems and diagnostics procedures are described in detail below.
Internet
Troubleshooting
START
Problem:
No blue LED indicator light
for internet at the Inverter
w/Cat 5 for ethernet installed.
Verify Basic Requirements:
1. Basic highspeed broadband
Internet service at 5Mbps
up/down or greater
2. Hardline connection to
homeowner's router
3. Field-installed Cat 5 Cable
is no longer than 328 feet
(100 meters)
Verify connection at physical
ports where field-installed
Cat 5 cable plugs into:
1. Homeowner's router
2. PWRcell Inverter
NO
Verify USB-B connector
below the Power Core for
Beacon is well-seated;
remove, wait, and re-connect
to reset the Beacon.
NO
Plug Factory Blue Ethernet Cable Into Back of Screen:
Use left arrow key to access hidden IP settings page.
Press center button and select 'Reset LCD'.
Wait for sceen to reset and look for Beacon device page.
If page is found, reconnect to beacon.
Diagnostic Repair Manual
Verify "Hot" Signal on
Field-Installed Cat 5 using:
• Data Tester
or
• Laptop Computer
YES
Hot Signal but no Blue Light
or
Hot Signal with Blue Light but
Cannot complete Registation
(Error 404 in PWRfleet)
Verify:
• USB connectors are well-seated
at top and side of Beacon
• Two lights, green and amber are
illuminated on either side of
Beacon ethernet port.
Verify Inverter Displays
Beacon Device Page:
Use the left arrow key to
look for for the Beacon
device page on
the inverter screen.
YES
STOP
if page is found and
LED illuminates.
Section 3 Internet Connectivity
RJ45 Male Connectors:
NO
Remake using
T-568B configuration.
NO
Bypass Factory Pass-through
and Patch Cable:
If remaking RJ 45 male end does not
resolve, plug field-installed
Cat 5 Cable directly into Beacon.
STOP
If bypassing the factory pass-through
and patch cable establishes a connection
through the Beacon, contact Generac
PWRcell Technical Support for RMA of
pass-through/patch cable.
YES
Contact Internet Service Provider:
Verify service provider has required data ports open.
Some providers' firewall may block comms with Generac servers.
See Internet section for description of ports.
STOP
If unnable to establish a connection through
the Beacon and/or register the system,
call Generac PWRcell Technical Support.
YES
STOP
here if the blue LED
illuminates after repair.
