Section 3 Internet Connectivity
1. "Hot" Signal, No Blue Light, Beacon Shows
Device Page
a. Ensure Internet connection is coming from the
source at the homeowner's router.
Intermediary devices such as Wi-Fi extenders,
Ethernet-over-power switches, or mesh pods
can lead to inconsistent connectivity through
the Beacon.
b. Connect field installed CAT5 directly to the top
of the Beacon to bypass the inverter Ethernet
pass-through and patch cable.
– If this resolves the connection, the pass-
through and/or patch cable from the fac-
tory may need replacing. Call Generac
PWRcell Technical Support 855-635-
5186.
c. The Beacon automatically updates after being
connected to the Internet, typically overnight.
2. "Hot" Signal, No Blue Light, Beacon does Not
Show Device Page
a. Ensure USB connections at the Beacon are
well-seated in their respective ports. Unplug
and reconnect; then check the screen for the
Beacon device page and allow 30 seconds to a
minute for connectivity and the blue light to
appear.
b. Locate the USB B connector for the Beacon to
the right of the ATS port in inverter wiring
compartment. This is where the Beacon plugs
into the inverter. Unplug, wait 30 seconds, and
reconnect. This will power cycle the Beacon.
Check for the Beacon device page.
c. If still unable to connect through the Beacon
and/or the Beacon does not show up as a
device on the inverter screen, remove the blue
Ethernet patch cable from Beacon and plug it
into the female RJ45 port on the back of the
inverter screen.
– If this does not resolve the connection,
the system may require a new Beacon.

d. Use left arrow key to access hidden IP settings
page. Press center button and select 'Reset
LCD'. Wait for the screen to reset and look for
Beacon device page. If page is found,
reconnect the blue Ethernet patch cable to the
Beacon.

a. After connecting Beacon, allow up to 30
minutes for the Beacon to receive automatic
updates.
b. Verify the type of Internet service being
provided. If other than basic high-speed
service, an upgrade may be required.
c. If service has been verified to be basic high-
speed service, verify with the Internet service
provider that the ports in
4. Homeowner or Business Requires Manual IP
Configuration
PWRcell System comes default set to connect via DHCP.
If connection requires manual IP configuration reference
the Inverter Installation Manual Section 6.
Internet Confirmation
1. Confirm the blue LED indicator light for Internet is
illuminated and the system is connected to the
Internet through the REbus Beacon.
2. Confirm that the system is able to be registered at
pwrfleet.generac.com.
3. Confirm system monitoring on PWRview Mobile
App or PWRview Dashboard.
NOTE: Do not leave the Internet connection routed
through the inverter screen. If necessary to connect
through the inverter screen for troubleshooting, call
Generac PWRcell Technical Support 855-635-5186.
System monitoring will not be available
connected through the inverter screen.
