Instrument tuning and calibration uses a reservoir of reference sample. Perfluorotributylamine
(PFTBA) is delivered to the source through a solenoid on the front of the instrument.

In MS scanning mode, the instrument can acquire data at scan speeds as high as 20,000 Da/s.
