Warning:
To avoid burn injuries, take great care when you handle the outer source;
this component can be hot. Wait until the outer source has sufficiently cooled before you
handle it.

Prepare the instrument so you can work safely on the source (see

Ensure that all gases are turned off.
3.
Remove the inner source assembly from the instrument (see
assembly).
4.
Remove the mounting flange assembly from the instrument (see
flange
assembly).
Result:
The outer source assembly is now accessible.

To avoid shearing the column, loosen the ferrule interface in the GC oven and retract the
column approximately 4 cm through the heated transfer line to allow the outer source to be
removed. For instructions on how to do this, refer to the documentation included with the
GC oven, observing all cautions and warnings.

With the column retracted, face the instrument from the front, hold the outer source with
one hand, and then, using the wrench, loosen the two outer source captive screws.
Attention:
secure the source block to the outer source assembly.
