To make the electrical connections to the rotary backing pump:
1.
Connect the pump control cable from the pump switching box to the backing pump
connector on the instrument's rear panel.
2.
Connect the rotary backing pump power cord to the pump switching box.
3.
Connect the pump switching box power cord to the main power source, and then power-on
using the switch on the pump.
Tip:
The relay box allows the instrument to remotely control the backing pump.
B.3 About the Waters hydrogen control box
When using hydrogen as the carrier gas, the hydrogen gas supply must be connected to the GC
oven through the Waters hydrogen control box, which qualified personnel must install. The control
box automatically shuts off the flow of hydrogen when any of the following conditions occur in the
instrument:
• Turbo speed drops below 80%
• Analyzer pressure drops below 1.0e-3 mbar
• Communication failure with the turbo controller
• Instrument is vented
• Power outage occurs
Warning:
gas supply must be connected to the GC oven through Waters hydrogen control box,
using the full 10-m length of the 1/8-inch stainless steel capillary tubing from the Xevo
TQ-GC installation kit. Do not shorten the 10-m tube. Inspect all gas fittings for leak
tightness and consistent supply pressure. Avoid naked flames.
Hydrogen gas is explosive. To avoid serious injury or death, the hydrogen
