Warning:
To avoid burn injuries, take great care when you handle the inner source;
this component can be hot. Wait until the inner source has sufficiently cooled before you
handle it.
Warning:
To prevent the inner source from toppling over and causing injury, stand it
upright on its handle on a flat bench.
Important:
Ensure that you use the EI filament housing assembly fitted with two yttrium oxide-
coated rhenium EI filaments, and the EI ionization chamber.
To change from CI to EI operation:

Remove the inner source assembly from the instrument (see

Stand the inner source upright on its handle on a flat surface.

To steady the inner source, hold the handle with one hand.

With the other hand, hold the CI filament housing assembly, push it down and then rotate it
approximately 30° in a counter-clockwise direction.
