Stopping the GC instrument
manually
In some circumstances, you may be unable to stop the GC instrument using software. If this
occurs, stop the instrument manually.
Tip:
If you attempt to stop the GC instrument via software, you may receive a "Server Busy" error
message in MassLynx.
C.1 Stopping the GC instrument manually following a
sample-list abort
When you abort a sample list, the GC instrument continues to follow the oven program to ensure
that no sample remains on the column. In this case, it is not possible to stop the GC using
software (for example, by using the Inlet Manager to reset communications or to load a new
method).
After aborting the sample list, use the following procedure to stop the GC instrument manually.
Notice:
avoid possible data loss, allow the GC instrument to complete the current run before
stopping it manually.
To stop the GC instrument manually (Agilent 8890 or 7890):
Depending on your GC instrument model:
• (Agilent 8890) Tap the Stop button
touchscreen.
• (Agilent 7890) Press the Stop key
keypad.
Result:
The run is terminated immediately.
Note:
For information about manually stopping a different GC instrument, refer to the user
documentation supplied with that instrument.
