Specifying the Setpoint Value

The control current provided by the I/O module can be directly specified in the
process image (output) via a setpoint value. The current actual value is depicted
by the I/O module in the process image (input) as the value of the current.
The following examples apply to the factory settings!
The control current, in addition to the nominal current and the setpoint value, is
also influenced by the downstream function blocks. In the delivered state, the
setpoint value is generated linearly from the control current. The following
formula applies:
control current [mA] = nominal current [mA] * setpoint value / 10000
The setpoint value is specified by the nominal current in 0.01 % per LSB. The
configuration of the function blocks determines which control current actually
arises for a given setpoint value. For ease of explanation, all subsequent
references always refer to this reference case!
Behavior of the I/O module at setpoint value 0 A
At a setpoint value of 0 A, a minimum alternating current oscillates with a
frequency of approx. 125 Hz. This may cause a hum in the connected coils.
This behavior is due to technical reasons and does not represent a fault.
In order to avoid a possible hum in the coils, the output stage can alternatively
be switched off at a setpoint current of 0 A, see section "Commissioning" > table
""Position" Menu item".
