Ventilation and cooling
Vents and louvers provide ventilation, both for intake and exhaust, keeping the projector components
within their operating temperature specifications.
Do not install the projector near a radiator, heat register, or within an enclosure. To ensure adequate
airflow, keep a minimum clearance of 50 cm (20 inches) around the projector and never block or cover
the vents.
When replacing fans, ensure you confirm the fan direction for airflow. The correct orientation of the
fan also ensures that the fan harness reaches the connector.
Light engine fan pack
The four fans of the light engine fan pack, which are mounted to a removable access panel frame, are
responsible for drawing air into the projector to cool the light engine and card cage components.
1. Remove the front-top cover (on page 50).
2. Remove the high-security cover (on page 51).
3. Remove the communications panel cover (on page 54).
4. Remove the light engine air filter cover (on page 54).
5. Remove the access panel frame (on page 55).
6. Remove the two screws from the side of the fan pack.
7. Loosen the screw accessible from the inside of the light engine compartment near the bottom
left.
8. From within the light engine compartment, unlatch the spring plunger on the upper frame and
pull the fan pack out.
