FAULTS IN THE SYSTEM

Functional fault
Insuffi cient product output - Nozzle too small
Poor spray pattern
Poor wrap-around
No wrap-around
Back-spray
Valve rod leaks

Cause
- Product pressure too low
- Product viscosity too high
- Filter in paint supply clogged
- Nozzle is clogged
- Wrongly adjusted atomizing
air
- Unfavorable nozzle size
- Spray product viscosity too
high
- Product pressure too high/
too low
- Damaged nozzle
- Poor grounding at object
- Lacquer resistance too high/
too low
- Spraying pressure too high
- No high voltage
- Seal in end piece defective
- Air-passages damp
- Object not grounded
- Distance between spray gun
and object too large
- High voltage set wrongly
(too high)
- Valve rod seals damaged
Remedy
- Flat jet: Select larger nozzle
(see nozzle table).
- Increase product pressure.
- Thin spray product in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions.
- Clean or replace fi lter.
- Clean or replace nozzle.
- Readjust atomizing air.
- Select a diff erent nozzle (see nozzle table).
- Thin product in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions.
- Adapt product pressure.
- Attach new nozzle.
- Check grounding of object or hanger with
ohmmeter.
- Check lacquer resistance (see Chapter 2.5).
- Readjust spraying pressure.
- Switch on high voltage using push button.
- Connect gun and gun cable/check for
defect.
- Check lacquer resistance (see Chapter 2.5).
- Repair by WAGNER Service.
- Clean and dry air passages.
- Check grounding.
- Reduce distance between spray gun and
work piece.
- Adapt high voltage to product.
- Replace the seals (see Chapter 10).
